I have a slim line PS3 and i know it wont play PS2 games. The question i have for you is. Why the hell does it have a PS2 memory card utility?

The memory card utility is for PS1 & PS2's as it will still play PS1 games

at least the xbox 360 you can play the old xbox games on

You're right too. So why the hell it plays PS1 games and not PS2 then?

PS1 is software emulated and PS2 is hardware emulated. Hardware emulation costs cash and since Sony had to make less of a loss on each machine, the hardware emulation went by the way of the Dodo.

I still have an original launch PS3 that still has the PS2 hardware emulation.

I thought the original PS3's did PS2 emulation in hardware, the latter fat PS3's did it in software and the slim's, Sony didn't bother...

The 60g version of the ps3 is compatible with ps2 original games

Then you upgrade

Mine's a UK fatty, and has soft emulation, I think the launch US/Jap fattys had hardware emu.

I've only ever played PS2 Buzz on my PS3, but I'm sure there used to be a list of compatable games, as not all had been emulated.
