Default MAC Help

Colleague has MAC on client site, able to connect to Skype but not able to surf or download email. Able to ping bbc for example though.

There are a few examples of this on google search but no resolution, any MAC experts that may point us in the right direction.

I know that, you know that, but some people insist on them, just to be different

What OS version is the machine running?
What happens when you try and access, for example, Apple. Does it simply say it cannot access the site?

How is it connected to the network, wirelessly? wired?

I agree with Jack that the DNS servers aren't being specified correctly, or at all.

If he can ping bbc.co.uk then isn't DNS working?

Try putting 67.201.17.106 in the address box and see if you see the passion Ford site.
If that works then it does sound like DNS.

Try OpenDns's servers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

I agree with RichB regarding DNS but scratching my head as to what else this could be. I used to have similar issue if the MTU was wrong but very much doubt that's the problem. If he's connected via a router does he have another computer that can access the net, has this happend recently or always the problem. Changed his network setup? If he's using wireless does it work with a cable?
