TIF files
Hi,
Anyone got experience of converting these to another suitable format?
i.e. something searchable like a pdf?
Anything searchable for that matter.
I downloaded a converter, which converted to PDF (I'd already done this in a roundabout way) but I couldn't search it.

When you say TIF, do you mean TIFF (Tagged Image File Format). If so then the original TIFF file is an image file, so you'd be very hard pressed indeed to make it searchable as it's not text.
Converting it from TIFF to PDF will probably just encapsulate the image in a PDF file, it's not going to do anything special and turn it into text.
What you could look at is some OCR software, which may be able to scan an image file, in the same way it would scan a physical page you'd put through a scanner and thus convert the data to text.
Have a look here for a comparison of products that will take a TIFF file and turn it into text.

Where did my reply go?
Anyway, as I was trying to type.
Thank you, but it is a one off and not worth the effort to be honest.
I've sent the file back to the customer telling them to stop using that stupid microsoft document image writer with our software for printing.
They now have the task of simply doing what I say, or looking through a 70 page report for the number of occurances of a specific number.
Thanks again,
Shaun
