what do you do with 8 hard drives?
mine is pretty neat at the moment, only have this pic to hand, but it is a little better than in the pic, all the spare cables are stuffed up into the top drive bays.
I dont understand how people get away with hiding cables completley. There is no way that the power for my motherboard would bend back on itself and be hiden behing the mobo or mobo tray - all the wires are just too thick! Anyway, heres a few pics:
Intel Q8200 2.33Ghz, 4gb OCZ ram, 500gb sata, 530W hiper psu, 4830 graphics card.
and I like to keep the desktop tidy too:
What CPU cooler are you using? I am looking to upgrade my standard intel one, and what are the specs of the pc?
Scott.

Playsatan, I just came back from 3 weeks in Indonesia; I'm quite alive thanks
why 8 drives?
2 x 1tb raid 0 for is and apps
2 x 1tb raid 1 for data
4 x 500gb raid 0 for video editing
The cooler is a zalman 9700. Keeps my stock q9450 at 27 degrees at 1500rpm (idle)
Swiss, someone flatpacked your PC - is it okay?

you can have the icons smaller, like on the XP one. I use it loads and was dissapointed when i found that you could not move the shortcut bar in Vista.
to get it, you make a new folder on the desktop. in this folder you drop in any shortcuts you want. (for the next step, close the sidebar for a minute) you then pick up the folder and drag it to the edge of the screen where you want it, for me, I dragged it all the way to the right, when you have moved it over as far as you can, let go, you can then right click to change the size, add labels etc. you can also use the sidebar next to it, after you have placed it there. (if this doesnt work, add it to the side of the screen with nothing in, then when its in place, just drop your shortcuts onto it.)
HTH,
Scott.

Glad to be of assistance.
It really anoyed me at first as I used to always use it in XP, then got vista and tried to drag the quick launch bar up and was gutted it was 'locked' to the bottom.

i once built one with all the trimmings
hidden uv lamps
wire management to the extreme with all the wires hidden behind the motherboard etc, spent far to long putting everything in proper wire conduit and such
then when i came to switch the power supply and put a new one in i thought "**** it" and just made a "messy one"

Well you bunch of $&*^£!" have cursed me
Logged on to my desktop, fire up Firefox, really long pause, followed by "click-click-click-whirr-click pause click-click-click-whirr-click" etc. My system drive has just carked it! Thank heavens for disk cloning software. I've just setup a quick and dirty raid 1 array using a spare 200Gb and 250GB disk and cloned my system disk onto it. I've got full backups, but restoring it all would be a pain in the posterior.
I'm now erasing the old disk before it dies completly. I think my flexible friend will be getting some excercise.

I'll enter mine in the messiest:
3 HDs, two on custom isolation brackets (stops the motor resonance through the chassis), 2 DVD drives, 3 case fans, T-balancer and a HD4800 all crammed into a HTPC desktop case.
Not much room for anything, or to route the wires neatly. Still, you don't see that when the cover is on.
