Got the kids a Wii for Xmas, and as you all know it's got built in wireless.

It's on my wireless network, and I can "surf" the News and Weather channels that come with it.

But, what else can it do? Can I stream a film from the PC for example?

if you buy the internet channel & plug in a usb keyboard, you can surf, with some graphical limitations.

not sure about streaming media, tho

didn't think you needed to buy the internet channel...... mind you, mine's still the original version (Opera beta iirc).....

You can get it chipped, which might help with your quest.....

You can play games on-line such as Mario Kart or Ghost Squad etc...

Also Everyone Votes Channel is okay for abit of a time killer...

You can stream from BBC iplayer which is watchable and I have only got a CRT it would probably be a lot better on a LCD or plasma I expect.

The internet quality is terrible, i player is just about watchable.

XBOX is the best bet for streaming movies from a PC.

The iPlayer on the Wii is a bit rubbish but that is because of the Flash version installed in the browser. Only Nintendo can release a newer version and they are not doing so at the moment.

The Xbox (or PS3) is quite good at streaming movies, I don't believe you can do that on the Wii? (could be wrong though)
