Error installing VMware Tools on VDI (ESX 3.0x)
hi people
i did a XP build VDI in VMware Workstation 5.x, then import it into VMware ESX 3.0. everything seems to work OK except installing VMware Tools. everytime i try to install it, the status error message is "error when upgrading tools". i install VMware Tools on another XP build VDI and it was OK.
is there a way to install the VMware Tools manually, like going into the .exe and run it?

As far as I am aware, using WS or ESX to install the tools will mount a CD image on the VM and then run it as if it was a CD, so you should be able to just run the autorun.exe file if you can get the software.
