Anyone recommend any firewall software that works better than the usual windows xp version if indeed an alternative is required ??!! have used zonealarm before but to be honest just found it a bit hard going in the amount off choice off configuring the software you had !!

so is an xp replacment firewall software required and if so any recommendations onone that is easy enough to set up ??

I use hardware firewalls - although I've used ZoneAlarm in the past and found it pretty good.

Is this any good ?

I use comodo, found it better than zone alarm, and it updates regularly (sp)

Okay thanks for that, have just installed it and in the process off setting it all up, like most firewall softwares is seems a bit daunting to the pc novice especially with the pops up asking allow this / block that etc ??!! anything in particular you can think off I should do with regards settings that are a deffinate with this software as I say bit off a novice with regards this sort off thing !!

you can take it out of learning mode, but i leave it in there, so i can see what is trying to access the system. Once it learns from your answer that a proggy is ok, it wont ask you again
