Default Which pc monitor?

First of all excuse my ignorance!
I believe my current monitor is on its way out keeps changing colours and flickering, so will need a new one does it matter what you get?, do they need setting up or is it a case of just connecting? they average between £120 and £210 is it worth spending more on? and finally what is a good screen size to get? ( I do not play games) so is bigger better?

Thanks in advance, any reccomendations oponions grateful.

Take a walk into PCWorld and have a look at their displays.

1) There are standard format 4:3 monitors and widescreen 16:9 to choose from.
2) Then there is the actual size of the screen
3) The appearance of the monitor may be important to you, along with extra features such as USB ports or speakers, height adjustment, swivel etc
4) There are two types of coating for screens. One is a matt finish, the other a glass type.

Once you know what you like, then you can start and look for a deal. The more you pay, generally the better the monitor. Don't worry whether its digital or analogue, there are adapters for whatever you end up with. If you want you can check, if the plug in the back of your computer is blue you have analogue, if its white then you have DVI.

Lum is right about shopping about for screens and actually "looking" at them.

16:10 is another wide screen size that is common on PC monitors.

Native resolution is also an important factor.

I know it's a bit above your budget. . . I'm sure you can find one cheaper.

I've got one of these:

22" LG L226WTQ Widescreen 2ms - Aria Technology

It's excellent

I just took delivery of a Samsung 22" widescrenn SM-226BW yesterday for £210. Im still building new PC as had to go out last night but out of the box it looks dead sexy. Will tell you what the image looks like when I get her up and running (hopefully everything works and no probs).

First impressions of my Samsung are very good. Just need to adjust profiles slightly but image quality is a lot sharper than my old Hyundai 19" 4:3. Just off to see how Crysis looks at 1680 x 1050 and High detail
