Default Is it me or is BT HomeHub S***!!!!

I have just installed my BT Home Hub as I have 'upgraded' from BT Broadband to Total Broadband 3.

BT told me that I would 'have' to take the Home Hub to make Option 3 work.

I installed it and on my Mac certainly there would seem to be significant latency in connecting to a new page and the wireless signal drops and reconnects with for no apparent reason. It always reconnects BUT it is irritating to have to wait for it to reconnect.

As for line speed it is EXACTLY the same as it was before. 2.2mbss stated at the router, 1.7mbps measured on various speedtest sites. I phoned BT about this and a nice gentleman called Abraham (albeit with an Indian accent - I have never anyone in India called Abraham) told me that it had not been connected yet as it was a 'modified' order and that he had 'no idea' when it might be connected.*

So my questions are

Is the BT HomeHub s***?

Do I have to use the BT Homehub to utilise Option 3?

If I don't use the BT Homehub with Option 3 what will I miss out on? (I have guessing that BT Broadband talk will be harder to set up?)

Can I connect my Homehub just for the Talk option and use my original NETGEAR router (very stable for 18 months) for my wireless broadband connection?

Thanks for any assistance

Rannoch

*I think was secret code for it should have been done on 21st but everyone was out on the lash preparing for the Christmas holiday and no one had either bothered to do the work or bothered to upgrade the order.

The BT Homehub is a pile of $hite, I went through 3 of them. In the end I plugged in a Netgear router and since then its worked perfect.

Now the only problem is BT's cr@p service now. Cant wait till my year is up so I bin them

...confirms my thinking.

I installed the BT bits of software on my Macbook Pro it came up with a message saying that it was short of memory as 'ONLY' 2gb was installed on the machine!!

How much memory do you need for a broadband connector?!

I dont even use the software supplied from BT, its waste of space. Just use your Netgear and put your home page towards BT's website. Also I use firefox.

I signed up for Option 3 for another year (been on BT Broadband for 3 years now). And for some reason they sent me the Home hub thingy via courier. Left it well alone, and still have it left in the box gathering dust. Currently happily using my Dreytek Router, does the job for me. Shame Bethere arn't on the exchange around where I live or I would have jumped ship.
