My Macbook makes a wierd (loud) noise
I have a late series one Macbook Pro that makes a wierd noise. Just next to where the power cable attaches it sounds like there is a little man inside my Macbook with a small pneumatic drill! It is a constant tapping noise.
Anyone else experience this? Is it serious? What might the cause be? The Macbook runs pretty well (apart from power management and bricking once in a while).
It has been doing it for months now - maybe getting slightly noisier.

it could be the CPU fan, but im not sure wether they use these or just a heatsink, either way i suggest to take it to a recommended Mac Repairer and get them to have a look at it, or phone apple as there might be a issue to do with these. Is there a warranty on the mactop, if so maybe you can get it sorted that way.

Double-check the maglock connector. Mine started to fray, and the sound you're hearing could be a bit of "arc'ing" or crackling.....
As a result, it screwed my battery too. New battery and psu under warrantee thankfully
But it could also be the fan too - there's one just by the psu connector (you wouldn't think so with the amount of heat in that corner!)........ but as about really

Have had a quick google and seems that it's probably a broken fan, so if AppleCare is still in effect, get onto them, or get down to a local Apple Store
