Question Checking for new drivers?

Is there a utility that you can load on your PC that can go off and check to see if you have the most up to date drivers loaded?
I've had this PC for almost a year so there must be new ones out?

Or is it a case of if it's not broke, don't fix it?

no is the answer...

You need to be up to date with each hardware supplier and do a search for their individual updates.. tedious but true

if its not broken, a good rule of thumb is "if its not broken don't fix it"

Graphics drivers can be an exception, you generally need to update those for best game performance/stability. Keep a copy of your old drivers though, just in case the new ones turn out not to be stable with something (can happen).

if you go on to download.com half way down the page there is a program called version tracker pro, i think that might help you a bit. There are a number of other similar services that check your current software and find any updates available

That Version Tracker Pro program has some horrid feedback on Download.com. Is it really any good? 1/5 from user reviews

I really hate stuff like that, if they came clean and told you up front that was the cost, then fine. To lead you down the line just annoys me...they can stick it

EDIT: They tell me I have a significant amount of drivers that are out of date. All but one relate to NVidia NForce hardware components. Low and behold, when I go to NVidia themselves and do a search I have the most recent.

The newer drivers they offer may work, but they are not the official ones from NVidia. So they can stick both their advice and request for money where the sun dont shine
