Ive had my xbox since boxing day, have got Halo (awesome) and Shrek (looks good, plays very poorly) for the wife and my boys to watch.
Overall i've been very impressed.
If you want to play dvd's you need the dvd remote (cant do it without at all) and if you want to plug it into an amp to get surround sound you'll want the deluxe av pack (which has digital out connection on it) as the standard leads are only av leads.
Got project gotham arriving soon so will let you all know what thats like

Halo is the best game so far on the Xbox, the last level is on the edge of your seat stuff. Project Gotham is pretty good, Much odessy again is pretty good and a few people at my work say Amped (snowboarding) is a nice game. If you get an Xbox make sure you but MotoGp for it, comes out in July. Gonna be the best game ever, or am I just biased?

PTHolt, if you'd BOTHERED to read my mind you'd know I was referring to PeteUK99.
Halo - not my cup of tea but people say it good.
Project Gotham - naff as MSR and graphics aren't THAT good.
Dead or Alive 3 - Soul Calibur & Tekken are better
Sega GT2002 - incredibly crap - played Dreamcast version
Nascar Heat 2002 - PC port
UNREAL CHAMPIONSHIP - another PC port

Daz,
Have you actually seen Project Gotham running in real-time in front of your eyes????? My mate was playing it before Christmas on his machine and it looked ace.
As regards to DOA3 been pants............well you obviously are not a 3d fighting purist then mate.......cause THE ONLY game that comes close is VF4 (which admittadley is due out on the PS2 in a couple of weeks, but will be perfectly ported onto the XBOX soon - as the PS2 could not fully replicate the power of the sega naomi 2 board!!).
Play the game on the PS2 and then play the No Holds Barred version on the XBOX!!!!!
Have you played Headhunter on the Dreamcast yet.....cool bit of kit!!
Dont OVERestimate the power (or lack of) of the PS2!!!

Shaun.

I agree invisiblechap, i still play unreal tournament now years later cos its so good.
But i wouldn't so blinkered that i would slate a whole system, thats just daft.
reminds me of the good old days -
'my spectrums got more games'
'my c64 has proper sprites and sound'
'spectrum games are better'
'c64 has a real keyboard and built in joystick port'
etc, etc, etc.
