Any ideas on this one guys

On Windows 2000 under the computer Management, you should be able to connect to another PC to check their system and services out.

As administrator I have sucessfully connected to a remote PC on our local Lan, but can't connect to any laptops that dial into our network.

Am I missing or not doing something?

Ermmm.. I'm out of work mode at the mo..

Do the laptops login into the domain?

Doing that sort of management when they are dialled in will be terrible slow. Not worth it IMHO of course.

What OS are the laptops running, how do they connect to the lan... what routing do you have in place? or are they on the same subnet?

Everything running Windows 2000, they have a dial up connection to our Lan. The dial up connection has File / Printer sharing enabled (Which I found out has to be on, from testing the connection to the LAN pc's).

I need to be able to give users local administrative rights to their laptops remotely. I was hoping I could do this via Computer Management.

Are the laptops members of the domain?

Does the domain automatically add domain\admins into their admin group?

Are they running personal firewalls?

Lots of things to go wrong and stop you getting anywhere, unfortunately!
