Streaming media on the 360 as if !!!!
Well ive followed MS's instruction,s downloaded wmp11 followed the instructions, highlighted my 360 and ... diddly squat. ive opened udp & tcp ports and nada nothing ZIP!!!!
Ive downloaded Zune and done the same. still sod all,
now is it me, or do they really get a perverse kick from telling you crap?
Zune....
Asks for media library name? WTF what is that? is it the directory where i store my MP3's? if so why not ask for that? i,m not a lemming who cant think to create my own directory where i want to store tunes, a library is where you go to get books ffs
Asks me to "log on with your primary account" ok, now is that my windows pc account, in which case its admin, is it my hotmail account, which is an email address, or is it my xbox live account? FFS why dont they say exactly what they want .... GRR they're always banging on about security and passwords, now they cant even clearly identify which bl**dy data i need to provide.
then i have to potentially specify TCP & UDP ports.
MS WTF are you doing!!!!!! its your bl**dy OS & your console, so why is it so Feckin difficult to link the two together ???
WMP11
"Share media as?" as mp3,s you stupid programme, what do i want to share them as?, bottle tops? FFS
and whats the purpose of the bl**dy i.d number i had to write down????
the programme never asked for it once...
anyone else had this trouble linking the two together?
if you didnt .,...... how the fckuk did you do it?
Mart

i have my main pc login for my admin rights.
my wife has an acc but never uses it
i then have my hotmail account,
i have my xbox live account
and yes there was a an xbox with a tick next to it, and it did sod all the xbox still claims it couldn't find the pc, strange when it uses the router to link to live!!
i had similar in zune, but it showed the xbox with a serial no as well
ive deleted WMP11 & zune and started again.
now i just get white boxes where the xbox should be.
Ferk i hate so called simple stuff

I use media centre to link up the pc and 360, but you have to make sure you have the media share box ticked in the settings on mp11, make sure your firewall isnt stoping the join.

I'm guessing that you're using wireless . . . good luck I gave up with that after having similar problems.
I hardwired mine in the end, drilled out of the wall ran a cable outside and into upstairs where the PC/router is. Works flawlessly now Once it works media centre is great

yup i tried them but the instructions made no difference to my hub, it also set my "nat" to strict after 2/3 days
all hubs should be sent to hell IMO
currently got one to sort out at the parents house, where it randomly stops allowing the laptops to connect, just because it feels like it

sorry to hear your having so much bother with this
I must be one of the few that got both my 360's to work with my XP machine and my Vista one straight out of the box.
I'm using a Netgear router and set it up via the info on portforward.com. PC's see the xbox on the network then I check the box to allow access and that was it !

Its a netgear dg84 whatever router.
netgear ethernet bridge/ wireless on the 360
comodo firewall
portforwarding? dont make me laugh.... its a myth by netgear
tried it either it dosent work, or the runes/ planets/ days of the weeks arnt in line
the ports identified are scant to sya the least, are they single ports? ranges of ports?
the portforwarding site 's instructions for portforwarding dont match the router, and i,m not paying £40 notes for abit of SW to do it for me
anyone got an idiots guide
for infor i have a wireless lappy and a pc on the router, pc is hardwired
i want to ad the 360 as another wirless conection.
if connects to live ok

My setup:
XP SP2 machine with WMP11. My Netgear DG834 router had the Xbox live ports open for my Xbox ( created a static route IP for the 360)
in the sharing menu when I started the xbox on the network withthe PC on and attempted to connect to windows based PC it popped up in the allow/disallow list and I checked the box. Sorry I can't be of more help but that's all I did.

Update,
managed to get zune to find the xbox but had to hardwire an ethernet cable in to the box.
it still wont find anything via the ethernet bridge, yet strangely enough it will connect to live ok ? go figure!!!
For all window so called simplistic p&p approach, it fails miserably with networks...
what could be so difficult, two wireless components, and a hard wired pc
i have reflashed the EB back to standard, and given it a static address of 192.168.0.9 but the xbox is now having a paddy and wont allow me to link to live, it says the ip address is nok
i,l put it back to dynamic tommorow and start again.
then i,ll have to sort out the lappy as thats had a hissy fit over the wireless..
why they cant print the mac codes visibly on the lappy, it would make identifying the wireless stuff a lot better.
are there any utilities out there for setting up a network, that take all the aggro out of working out if the SW programmer has got out of bed the wrong side, and made trying to access any of his so called setup ultilitys futile

tried this lastnight without success. So all you need is a pc connected to router which is connected to xbox. Have a media folder shared on pc then go on xbox and connect to pc?
I opened wmp11 clicked on media sharing then ok on the popup box, doesnt look like it worked but how would i know...then im supposed to go onto xbox and search for pcs, which im guessing is supposed to find that shared folder...

Well i had another go tonight, nothing nada zip
so i went back to basics, and found that the ethernet bridge is kaput, it wouldnt even talk to my pc when plugged in directly for setup purposes (despite being reset several times)
So i had a bit of therapy, and smashed the fcker to bits with a hammer
oh well i suppose i will have to get the MS one now
