Folks, got a mate who has a load of photos on a second hard drive on xp that's not caching the thumbnails. We've checked that "do not cache thumbnails" is not ticked etc. Whenever he opens a folder, it takes ages to create the thumbnails, and doesn't seem to create the thumbs.db either so next time you go in same thing happens.

Have tried resetting folders individually and also the top level and asking it to inherit settings - still no joy ??

Any other suggestions welcome

p.s. he also did a windows repair from CD and re-applied SP2, and no new software has been installed recently.

 

fixed - poxy photoshop was creating thumbnails also !
