Thumbs down

There are things like action replay disks that allow you to boot backups but you have to use "Knife trick" ie:shoving something into your ps2 to make the disk tray come out.
You cannot download and burn a boot disk.

have a look at www.cdrom-guide.com in the ps2 section.

I think you need to get your machine chipped cos as Scooby nutter says there are no 'boot disks' available for download from the web.
Neokeys are the easiest to fit since they plugin to the USB port and need 1 wire soldered to the board. However, the best chip is the "Messiah" as this requires no swaps whatsoever bla bla bla.....
There are other names for this chip too just to confuse matters

Exclamation

Make sure you upgrade the FIRMWARE on the DVD-R writer, as the standard FIRMWARE ONLY enables certain brands of DVD-R to be written at x2.

Nick,
will ask the guy who chipped my ps2 if he can get hold of any.
I keep getting newsletters from carl ,saying that these chips are available!!
Trouble is , many people have jumped on the bandwagon, saying that they have these chips when they dont even have the means of getting them/or the chips arn't available!!
Are you definatly after m type chips cos my neo4 works like a dream

Thanks Shaun,
I know about the firmware as I've downloaded 1.65 (I think??) from Pioneers website sometime ago.I've still yet to flash it (It's running factory 1.49) but I've read somewhere that they were planning on future versions of the firmware to not allow you to copy 'copyrighted' DVD's.I assume you have the writer also? Just outta interest, what version of fw are you running?
Scooby nutter - Thanks mate.Yeah I do want Messiah cos of the no swap with DVD-R's.I had the chance to buy Neo 4's at the weekend but decided against it..... : D (I've waited this long for Messiah,no point rushin into it! )

Cheers,

Nick..

P.S: Shaun,I sent u a mail re Messiah...........
