connected via component and selected 1080 on the xbox settings. Is it my eyes decieving me but i cant see a massive amount of difference that people rave about compared to the old crt (480i?)

What size is the screen? On my 42" plasma there is a huge difference between 480 and 1080, (the picture looks much better than it does on the crt as well). On smaller screens, you are less likely to notice the difference...

40" people have said you will notice i huge difference. they looked good on the 28"crt but i dont see the difference. The settings are at 1080p so it must be going at 1080p. just feeling a little depressed that im not totally excited about it...

My LCD doesn't accept 1080p over component, so mine is set to 1080i (which for all intents and purposes is 1080p, seeing as the set has to de-interlace the image).


There is, put simply, a huge improvement over 480i. You noitice details that were not evident at all under 480 when viewing in 1080 (or 720p for that matter)

Mine's a massive improvement on my LCD TV at 1080 (think it's set for p, but can't remember) compared to the old CRT TV which disliked displaying at 60Hz, so the picture was blurred.

just checking....have you switched the little switch on the component cable where it plugs into the back of the 360 to HD???

There may be something wrong somewhere. I mean if you cannot tell the difference between 480i and 1080p on your screen, then it does suggest that something is wrong somewhere - It should be like switching from black and white to colour - It's that obvious.

how strange, last night in was calibrating my plasma and "for a laugh" i switched mine back to 480

how did i ever play games like that
