Default MySQL - any free to download GUI / record editors ?

Any MySQL developers on here ?

I need to know if there's any free to download GUI's that will let me connect to a database and edit / add / delete records from it ?

I currently use Navicat, which I had to pay for, but was wondering if there's any free equivalents ?

I think that's what I was playing about with the other day.

MySQL Database Management Software and Database Tools by Quest Software

I use Toad for Oracle pretty much all day long and its fantastic. Can speak for the MySQL version though.

I use MySQL Front from mysqlfront.de I think.

Can't remember if I paid for it or if it was a free download, had it for years now. Has a few bugs, but very easy to use.

The MySQL version looks to be similar to the Oracle one I use:

In the Oracle version you can do "edit tablename" rather than "select * from tablename" which allows direct table editing in an Excel style grid.

Update: Tried TOAD and didn't like it - some GUI's you like, some just don't click. I need the app to be easy to teach a novice, and this isn't as good as below. Will keep it as an alternative for me though

Dream Weaver, I accidentally came across a link for MySQLFront which I used in the past and really liked. It IS still available, under a new name, HeidiMySQL, HeidiSQL - MySQL made easy - I just tried it again, and its still really good.

I must admit, I overlooked that suggestion on the basis I'm NOT using PHP in this case. Although, when I think about, its not really important what scripting language I happen to be using. The app merely needs to be a friendly free front-end to the MySQL database.

So on that basis, I'll take a look.
