Default Recommend a free usb harddrive cleaner ?

Selling a freecom 60GB usb harddrive and need to remove any remnants of files stored on it.

Any recommendations of suitable freeware ?

from within XP:

delete & create two smaller partitions & format both of them - not quick format.

That should do inless you have some really dodgey stuff on there.

As i understand formatting a drive does not overwrite all data.
there are no special files on the drive just personal confidential / financial stuff i would prefer deleting completely, for this reason shredding or overwriting seems a safe method. Anybody any first hand experience of any of these programs?

The cost of specialist software is probably going to be greater than the value of the disk.

Google = Active@ Kill Disk Hard Drive Eraser. Low Level Format.

Free version will write 0's which should be fine.

I thought low-level formatting of an IDE disk was bad news?
