Carmack mentioned he's writing the engine across multiple platforms for once - PC, Xbox360, PS3 and Apple

I'd assume, now Apple have shifted across to intel, it makes iD's life a little simpler in terms of developing games for the Apple platform.

Apart from announcing the next iD game franchise across those platforms, perhaps iD will move its development environment over to Apple too ?

He mentioned the new engine, titled "ID TECH 5" but they're working on a big game, a complete departure from Doom, Quake, etc... iD are holding off mentioning it until later in the year.

Or, did you mean he said he was moving dev environment onto Apple ? I must've missed that.

Listened again, he just said it speaks highly of Mac as a development/deployment platform.
