Questions regarding SATA drives
Got a quick couple of q's regarding Sata drives and setup. I would ask my company's IT guru, but he quit last week before I had the chance which has kinda knckered me.
Can someone tell me how you connect up sata drives, as my mobo only has 1 sata connector on it. Are they daisy chained like current ide channels except that it can have more then 2 devices on?
Secondly, with sata, is it possible to have the os on an IDE channel drive and the data storage on the sata drives? My intention is to have a raid 0 box at the end of it, actin asa file server for the macs, but want just the files on the sata drives (the only bit that needs backing up) and the OS if I can get it on a seperate IDE drive from where it boots.

Buy a PCI > SATA controller (circa £15.00)
It's unusual to only have one SATA port - they are usually two's or four's - have another look.

Yes - for simplicity I'd install without having the SATA drives connected. Then setup the raid and make sure your still booting from the IDE disk. You may need the RAID drivers for your OS before it can see the discs
