Default One nasty Virus!!!!!! - Help needed

Normally i can sort any viruses out but this one is a bad un.

basically got home from work last night and put the PC on decided to listen to the match through CenturyFM radio but for some reason i coudln't - did not have compatible software.

anyway decided against it and watched it on TV.

After United got stuffed i noticed that i could hear the radio station - i thought thats odd so i went upstairs and sure enough it was playing away - i guessed it must have downloaded something.

(i will get there)

Ok here is the worrying part, i tried opening my e-mail and it opened for a fraction of a second and then shut down almost immediately, this also happened with my AVG software and anti spyware software.

funny thing is i could acess webpages and Scoobynet but as soon as i typed in Google 'Anti Virus' it closed Google as well.

It now has erased my cookies as a couple of sites that rely on my password including Scoobynet has put me back to the homepage prior to log on.

I am at a loss.

Thanks in advance

boot safe mode and run virus scan? find out what it is then you may be able to try and remove it.

NOD32 gives you a timed trial i think. If you want free av software i use Avast (60 day trial then register it for free for 14 months).I used to use AVG and thought it was alright but had to unistall it to get rid of a virus then changed to Avast (avast! antivirus software - computer virus, worm and Trojan protection by ALWIL Software)

i have free AVG atm and think ill stick with it as it does a good job. Did have Avast but it seemed to be really heavy on the resources. There were lots of settings, maybe i didnt get it quite right.

True but AVG wasn't very good at curing the things it detected (in my case)
The only problem with AV software you can only tell how good it is is when things go wrong

However, there have been a few posts on here recently from people who have AVG installed, and have been infected with viruses. Personally, I don't think that's doing a good job.

NOD32 is only £24 a year, is very light on resources (much less than avg, avast etc), and it actually works. Highly recommended

Ok i've noticed when i start my computer software that has installed itself flashes up for a few seconds - it says 'NT-KRNL' now i've looked at a free removal tool but cant find anything, i cant even click onto this thread because it says 'Virus' in it and immediately shuts it down. although i can access other parts of Scoobynet.

any more suggestions?

can you ftp to anywhere? I'll host the install if you need?

Are you replying from your work machine? - can't you burn the install to a CD and run it from home?

Can you receive e-mail? I could e-mail it you
