Just pre-ordered my PS3, roll on 23rd March

Problem is, not got a clue about the games and I generally find that launch games on all new consoles are pants, well they were on the PS2 !!

Are any of the launch games worth getting or should I just wait until something decent is released?

Any decent PS3 magazines or online sites?

Anyone played any of the games yet?

Any recommendations much appreciated

Motorstorm is great. F1 is also great especially if you have a USB steering wheel. Virtua Tennis is also brilliant. Don't forget Gran Turismo HD demo is also available for free download from day one.

Also depends if you have any of the other games on 360 already.

If you don't have fight night that is also worth getting.

Don't know why ya baffled....... I've always been a playstation fan and knew I'd have to get a PS3.

When the PS2 came out I bought it with Timesplitters, completed it on first day took it back for full refund and didn't buy another game for ages

Like I said, release games tend to be pants so I don't want to waste loads of money......rather wait till something decent comes out.

Ed, thanks for the response.......I've not got an X-Box so will look at those. Friend of mine has got Fight Night 3 so will have a go on that tomorrow night

Agreed. I'm not a fan of any particular platform. That just doesn;t make any sense to me. I'm a fan of games. I'll get a PS3 when there are some worth buying one for

Don't want to waste money on pants games......don't think buying a PS3 is waste and I can't see them dropping in price for some time as they never release enough units.

Worst case scenario I could probably flog it on ebay for more than what I paid.

There must be one or two decent games surely? That's all I want to know so no more why bother buying one comments please

I doubt it. They're already selling for less than the UK RRP on ebay, and that's before you can even officially buy them here.

Nope. The only half decent games are motorstorm and resistence, and I personally found them both to be average at best (which is why I'm waiting to get a PS3 for a while). I don't need an expensive black paperweight

In answer to the question that was actually asked - Fight Night is aces if you havent got it already, Motorstorm is outstanding, Resistance is good, but not great. And VF5 is heaven if you are a VF fan.

I have to say Motorstorm is a Pleasure to play the Graphics are something else. Ive not seen anything on the 360 that comes close yet.

Sure it looks pretty, but I got bored with it in about an hour. Very shallow gameplay imo, and good graphics do not a good game make...

An hour is good compared to some 360 games I've bought so far.

I'm going to get a PS3 because I know that it will give me a great choice of games (eventually), I like my 360 but it's really a niche product and there isn't a great deal of variety when it comes to game choice.

You seemed more concerned with knocking me for buying a PS3 and taking the **** about it being a paperweight.

You did give some constructive comments on some of the games however so thank you but given your attitude on the rest of the thread I must say I'm not really that interested in what you've got to say anymore

I can only hope that by the time you deem the games good enough to warrant buying a console that there's none available at anything other than hugely inflated prices

Not at all. In fact I have said many times that I would like a PS3. None of the "exclusive" launch games are any good though imo, and I've already finished the others on the 360, so what's the point in getting one? You seem to be the one that is overly sensitive. I have not once taken the ****. I simply said that "I" didn't want an expensive black paperweight, which is all it would be until some decent games appear for it (probably the latter half of this year by the looks of it).

That's fine. I'm not interested in the views of any obvious Sony fanboy either

1) I have bought practically every single console ever made, and will get a PS3 when there is a decent reason for doing so.
2) If the prices are that inflated, won't that affect you as well
3) Strong rumours appearing today that Sony are going to reduce the price of the console later this year, so it makes even more sense to hold off for a while.

You were clearly jumping on the bandwagon of the earlier posters. All I asked for was comments on the games not my reasoning for buying a PS3. Inflated prices of the console won't affect me as I'll already have one I've already stated that I'm a "sony fanboy" and I haven't offered any views to you Rumours of reducing the price of the console before it's even officially launched...........you must have some serious inside contacts. I don't care how long you wait to get one or how cheap it is, my original post was to find out about the games, you've said your piece so why not now jus F.O.
