We bought an Aspire 5601 a few months ago from the Tesco supermarket for £600.

It has an Intel 1.6G dual processor, 1G RAM, 80G HDD, widescreen, integrated wireless, etc. The price & spec was similar to the Dell's I was looking at but what sold it to me was the 3yr collect & return warranty.

Build quality seems great and the performance seems fine for internet, photo's, wordprocessing, etc.

I've had my Acer for four months now and it's easily the best laptop I've ever used

All my previous experience is company owned Toshibas or HPs and it p!sses over them especialy when you factor the price into the equation, never used a Dell so can't comment.
