Default hd no image...

Hi,

Bought a new external hd a while back. Its a Hitachi 7k400 and i'm having problems getting it to show an image under 'my computer'. It shows up in device manager but i cant seem to access it. Can anyone help? (i'm not a computer expert!)

Cheers.

Hi,

You need to partition n format it.

Goto Admin tools/computer management/disk management

Shouldn't need cd. Any external USB disks should just appear in the list of drives in "disk management" and you should be able to do the partitioning etc from there...

Right click My Computer
Manage
Disk Management
At that point you should get the disk initialisaton wizard that will create and format the drive for you. (click quick format if you've not got days to wait )
Follow the instructions in there.
