What are you trying to do? If you want true anonymity, then use an internet cafe or piggyback on someone elses unprotected wifi connection (even better), but you must also change your network cards MAC address as this can be tracked back.

I've been blocked from a website (for no good reason) that I need to re-register on to get some info from a thread / post my email to people who were on a group buy I'd organised.

Have you been assigned a static IP address?

If you have a static IP address you're probably paying an extra few £ a month for the privilege, and unless you're hosting your own sites there would be little need.

Try rebooting your router and seeing if you get a different IP allocated to you.

Gary.

Question

I browse via a proxy server for all connections, so how does this web-site know my IP address?

Edcase - let us know what the above site comes up with when you use the various suggested anonymisers!

Cheers,

mb

It doesn't. It is simply running a script on your side (locally to you) to show you your IP address and so your machine is effectively showing your IP address back to you and because of that, no proxy server is able to change that.
