I've downloaded all the nuts & bolts stuff, but what I don't understand is:-
# Make sure that the new drive has the jumper set for 'cable select' - a diagram on the drive shows the correct driver position #

New HDD hasn't arrived yet, but can anyone enlighten me please?

Thanks for that, even I (you can write everything I know about the internals of a PC in BIG letters on the sharp end of a pin) can understand the contents of the link, so hopefully HDD will arrive and I can get it all sorted before Christmas

To all of you that chipped in with advice, links, etc many thanks, got my 160Gb Seagate drive on Tuesday, and it took me about 10 mins in total. It took longer to get the ariel connections back on than anything else!!

Not directly. Only by using a capture card or DVD recorder.

My Sky+ is now out of warranty so I might do the same as I could do with some more capacity. Which Sky+ box have you got? I think mine is the Amstrad version, the sky card is on the right side as you look at the front of the box - can this be upgraded too.

Also where do you get all the bits from etc..

No, but there is utility floating around that will allow you to copy programmes across to a new drive when upgrading.
Can't use 'em on anything other than a Sky+ box due to the encryption of the signals.
