Question for Xbox 360 experts
I know the difference between the core system and the premium system is largely that the premium system has a20 gb hdd. Can someone tell me why I would need the 20 gb hdd - if it was only playing games poss some on-line games is there any need for the hdd?

Sorry for the hijack, but i have an HD drive here for the 360 if you want it?
I had mine replaced under warranty, but the actual cause of the problem was the machine overheating in such a small part of the TV cabinet.

It also comes in handy for saving games to, otherwise I beleive you will need to buy a memory card. If you are connecting live then for me essential. Loads of demos of new games are on there to download, many before they are released. eg tonyhawks.
Also how are you connecting the xbox to your tv. If you have a decent plasma.lcd there premium comes with component cable and will give a much better picture than scart cables.
And as mentioned before, wireless controllers, soooo much better than having messy wires draped across the floor.

The hdd is also a must for the game updates. If you have any of the old xbox games you wont be able to play them unless you download the emulater.

You'll struggle to find any shops that still have the Core in stock - it was discontinued ages ago and IMHO i wouldnt even bother with a Core pack even if you do find one.
HDD is an absolute must, even if you have no intention of going online with the 360 - the game saves can get pretty sizable themselves, i think my PGR save is about 17mb.
Also the memory unit, while being advertised as 64mb, only has about 51 available to use. There's a 256mb version on the way though. If you dont get a HDD, you will need a memory unit - £22 for 64mb or £70 (if bought seperate) for 13GB on HDD (13GB is whats available to use even though its a 20gb drive)
