Default no longer access certain websites (not ****!)

As per title, nothing has changed on my pc, it is running a fully uptodate xp home but for some reason I cannot access the abit website Universal abit


I was going there to get all the drivers for my mobo for a backup as the dog chewed my mobo disc. Also I can no longer access the windows update site .

The message I get is
The page cannot be displayed error.

Nothing has changed on the pc at all, no viruses (virus checker uptodate and latest version of zonealarm)
help!

Are you using a router ?

If so check the MTU setting and lower it until the sites work, or check with your ISP webhelp to get the correct setting.

yes using a router but nothing has changed, can still access every other site

Thats why I suggested the MTU. On aol, if you don't set the MTU properly, then you can't get on ebay, asus driver site etc for some reason. Set it to 1400 fro example - bang up it comes

bonkers, didnt change the mtu (no option in the router browser) so telnet into it flush some settings and hey presto everything is now working again. bizarre
