I've created a database at work that I'll like to issue to the department but I dont want people to have access to the core of the database.

Is it possible to set the database up as an application so it opens as an application/program straight away? if so how?

I have done a similar thing at my work.

You can set-up the PC on which the database is held an internal website.

You can then link the query's to run when you click a link and output on the users Internet Explorer via active server pages.

Try Googling Internet Information Service (IIS) and Active Server Pages (ASP) - Experts Exchange is very good for working these things out.

Good luck!

I've set two forms us

1. Test reports (main database)
2. Switchboard

I'll like the switchboard form to open straight away whan anybody double clicks to open the database.
The switchboard form will direct the user into the Test report form.

Can you not make an MDE file from the tools > database utilities menu?

Try migrating it to SQL server Express, its free and not completely crap like Access.

Failing that, you can protect the code from amateur intrusion via the Autoexec Macro, easily overidden if someone has a clue so it depends if its an IT office or one full of people who have many humourous furry items on their base unit.
