ISP connection speed icon...
Just changed over from a USB speedtouch modem, into the Orange livebox. Previously in the quick launch Icon toolbar (bootom right) I had the option to see what connection speed I had with my ISP by hovering over the monitor symbol.
Question is, I'm now connected via ethernet, and it no longer availabe to view Any ideas how to get it back ?
Cheers
Matt

to see sync speed etc you would have to log into the router.
you would need to type in the ip address typically along the lines of 192.168.x.x into a web browser
May I ask why you would always need to see that, on 512k, 1meg and 2 meg connections it would always be the same, may differ a little on MAX but......

No reason, just liked to see I was always getting full value for my money !
Are you saying there is no need to see it , and if I did, its a lengthy process to establish it ?
Cheers for the reply though

No, you can still see the speed you are connected at, but you would need to log into the router first as its the router thats now sorting out the net connection not the modem
the way to log in may be on the router itself, or did it come with this documentation

Cool, i've found it in the router, doesn't seem to be an option able to display in the bottom right tool bar. (it just tells me the download speed is 2272 and upstream is 288)
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 2272 288
Then lots of IP addresses
WAN
Gateway
Primary DNS
Secondary DNS

You can set the icon to show on your ethernet conection but it'll only show the speed you're connected to the network, not to the outside.
Something like Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test will give you an idea but not 100% accurate.
I've got a 10 meg connection and can download fully at 10 meg but that site only ever shows 7 and a bit. Probably browser or server bottlenecks somewhere.
