Anyone using this program where they work:
http://www.filemaker.co.uk/
We are thinking of using this at work. Anyone got any experience of using it?

I've not actively used Filemaker for a fair few years now, but have in the past and it was pretty good. It used to be one of the only database applications for the Mac OS, seeing as Microsoft never, and still hasn't released Access for the Mac.
It's probably worth downloading a trial version and having a look at it to see if it does what you want.

The MD has seen this program at another company and is really impressed. So wondered if anyone on here uses it at their company. I've personally never heard of it.

I've used it quite a bit, it's pretty good really, very nice and easy to use user interface. Can build quite complex databases easily. It got better after v7 IIRC.
I used to write/maintain websites using it as the DB software aklong with Webstar when the sites were hosted on G4s - Some time ago now but still support some of them...

we sell the program and up until a few months ago, even had an inhouse filemaker specialist..sorry.
but it really is one of the easiest databases to build with filemaker....
I have contacts of companies that maintain and tailormake these solutions.
with a bit of apptitude, you could probably do it yourself.
but, your first problem is exporting the data from the access database into a format that you can then import into filemaker, mapping of fields etc.
btw, to get it working correctly, best to try it out first using a bit of test data.
then if happy, get someone in to build and test it for you.
finally it works best, if you get the server version plus clients.
fairly low overhead on the server, works on both platforms,,works well

We use it in our business.
Although I didn't create the actual database, it's pretty easy to pick up. One of the more user friendly I've used as an end user - and also when creating a database.
