Default Eve Online anyone?

Just wondering if anyone was into this game on here.

Downloaded it and have been playing it on the laptop over the weekend.
Seemed really boring at first, but now I'm starting to find more minerals to mine and my sheilds are increasing I can actually start to fight back instead of warping home with my tail between my legs.
Got my first frigate already too.
Beats that tub o lard they give you to learn in.

What got me interested....
News that they recently had the largest number of people in game at one time...

30,500
On one server !!!!!

Played it for years on and off but am currently unsubscribe. Its odd how its the most highly ranked MMO on mmorpg.com yet it hasn't had even half as much exposure as WoW. It can be a very involved game, or you can just play it as pretty much a single player blast em up. The training method in it isn't to some people liking as its all time based so you cant grind through the levels (skills) any faster if you actually play more as the skills level up even if you are offline.

As you have, once you get past the boring stage its pretty fun. But then I started to ask myself "what can I actually do" in the game. Basically either run cargo, kill or mine but after running the same missions over and over again it got a bit tedious.

Don't let me put you off though, see how it goes. Nice graphics

Graphics were all jittery on the laptop, I don't think it's powerful enough, but it's got me started anyway.
New rig has turned up this morning, so I set a large learning skill going and am going to spend the evening building that..

How big is that space though.

I use to play a lot! But decided having a sub to 2x Eve, EQ2 & WOW = Lack of time...

Space is not that big explored most of it in the beginning before it became gank fest

I never joined up in the end.. my 14 day trial ran out and all I had done (pretty much) had been mining rock.. Feckless boring **** of a game.

Obviously I'd forgotten how crap it was having just joined up again last night on another free trial (forgotten my old user name and password anyway)

Thought I'd head the Character in a specific direction to make the best of the skills, so chose a fighting direction.
Got into my first ship, did all the training to gain a bit of cash and chose my second mission from the home station.
Everything said level 1 etc, so looked promising.
Warped to the destination to find 20 or so "red crosses"
Ok, dont run just yet I thought.... can't be that bad.
BANG.. 2 god knows what hit me and it was bye bye Impairor.
bobbing around in my pod on the way back home 6 jumps away.

What a **** game... should have realised last time.

It isnt really a single player game. I played for a while and got some mates signed up. It takes a while to reach a reasonable skill level. Once you have done it though the game really opens up. I made a second caharacter and didn't fly it for about 3 months until he had a good set of core skills. PVP is where the fun is or gang missions. Gang PVP is probably the most intense in any online game.

It is tedious though unless you are flying with mates.
