VTEC to Turbo

A few months ago I bought a 360 from a friend of mine and have had no problems with it what so ever (neither had he).

A week or so ago it froze a couple of times, then on Thursday it started pixilating on buildings, the sky etc (I think the lense may have been scratched by not picking the disc up properly).

I registered the console and phoned them the next day, I said it was a gift and didn't know exactly when I got it. They went away and checked the serial number against there records, the first owner must have registered it (launch system)!

Basically it was out of warranty, but have said if I send it back they will replace it with a new one!! (I hope it is not a recon - although if the problem is fixed I'm not overly worried).

They sent me a UPS returns label via email and is being collected tomorrow.

Apart from the fact it has broken down, I am impressed with the service so far.

I've posted this (not to gloat, as I have herd that some aren't being replaced ) so that if anyone reading has an out of warranty system, don't be duped into paying for a repair, be persistant and all should come good.

That's great to hear. Although I've heard some people have been charged £50 or £90 to get their out of warranty 360 fixed!!?

They were on watchdog last week with not so many good things being said

Good to hear they are replacing it. It must only be just out of warranty though by a month or so. Think the christmas present angle swung it?! lol

Slightly off topic but the media is full of all these people who have 360s that they have had to pay to get fixed....Why? The warranty can only just have run out as they were launched on 2/12/05. 12 months means it has only just run out. Funny how it coincided with the ps3 launch. Wouldn't surprise me if sony were pushing the negative spin on this one.......

I read somewhere on t'internet that all Xbox 360's manufactured before 01/2006 will get fixed/replaced if a fault occurs - even when out of warranty.
