Default Vista Latest Build - 5584 (RC1)

This was released today, upgraded easily from the previous build and wow - it really does look like the finished product now

Hello

Is there an upgrade to download, or the whole thing again?

And in fact where did you get it from as I'm supposedly an official Beta Tester and I can only download Beta Candiate 2 from microsoft.com.

I'm MS staff so have access to the build server as and when they are completed.

With regards to the upgrade path, there will eventually be an 'upgrade' product to go from XP -> Vista but for now the only product is a 2.7gb full ISO including home, premium and ultimate.

Is it more expensive than a PS3?

boxst - I'm sure you're aware (as djuk must be) that there's copies available on a few Warez sites as well as IRC.. last one I checked today was Build 5536 Pre-RC1. But seems the Warez guys are having fun trying to run it on a few licence codes without a genuine XP OS too. No support for many of their Warez packages.

Some are running it on a separate partition with others trying a VM ware instance. Seems the Hacking of Vista is fully underway..

Spotted one guy trying to download it over a dial up connection... Desperation indeed.

Hello

Yes, I am aware, although still can't find 5584. It is quicker for me to download it from a torrent site (400kb/s+) than from ms.com . I have a legimate Beta2 key.

Guys.. are the licences you're using, multiples or individual to a tester, as the public preview programme is closed to new requests?

Thanks Steve.. I'd resisted the temptation to take a proper look and turned down a developer option from work as I was too busy.. but now it looks pretty decent and stable they stop the licences... my bad timing..

Obviously I want to to play this right... No issues with transferring the licence? What version is it for as I haven't been following the development at all?

To be fair 5600 has about 6 fixes over and above 5584 which unless you are being affected by specific hardware/driver issues won't affect you

I'm sticking with 5584 as I'm not affected by them.

That's good to know, but I'm waiting for the latest netfx 3.0 ctp, which will presumably be aligned to build 5600 and will probably refuse to install on 5584?

At a guess I would say it will probably work on 5584 as this was essentially meant to be the RC1 build.

Just upgraded to build 5600 at home, not differences in performance to be honest so 5584 is good as any for now I would say.
