Default DivX : Xbox 360 : help!

Hello All

I've asked a couple of times now, but that was an eternity ago in computer-land.

Is it possible to play DivX movies/TV Programs on the 360 yet? I don't want to mess around with converting them to some strange format that I can stream. My wife wont let me buy one until that happens ...

Thanks.

As far as I know - No.

I've tried playing them over my 360 using XP Media Centre and it just says it doesn't recognise the file type.

Just lie and say you can. get it home and then discover it can't, oh the shame. When the missus says take it back say you can't, it was non-refundable

Yup, Transcode 360 will play just about everything, the files are converted on the fly at your pc and streamed to your 360 in a formtat it can read.

Works flawlessly and it's free.

Hello

Thank you for you that. Transcode looks as though it might do the trick.

I'm using transcode to send HD content form my PC to the 360 via transcode. The only problem I find is the sound is a little low at times but transcode can boost that.

It's a great piece of software

Hello

As I've actually got my 360 now, any updates on this? Is Transcode still the way to go?

Thanks,

Steve

Never got TVersity to work
Says it going on my PC, but the 360 can't see any videos.

Rumour has it that MS will be enabling DivX playing in a future dashboard update.

I had to enable UPNP on my router and then remove my computer from the dashboard. When I added computers again then as well as my computer the Tversity appeared.

Hello

Have a read here: Playing DivX and Xvid content on Xbox 360 – An easy guide! :: TweakTown. Perhaps you don't have the Codec on your PC?

Is that, turned off the firewall on your PC or the Router?
oh and I can't find a setting for UPNP on my router?!? just lists TCP, UDP or TCP/UDP?
I've enabled UDP on the ports it suggests in the setup guide.

yep followed that guide step by step. I can watch the files on my pc so i've got the codec, but I also download some anyway (link from that guide) to see if that would make a difference.

Removing the PC firewall did the trick for me.
Although I wish it (the 360) listed things in folders rather one great long list (blostered by the online feeds that TVersity adds by default). I have a list of 2049 films (950 of those are actually mine).

It doesn't play all of them. Can't seem to find a reason why it'll play some divx avi files and not others though?
