Exchange 2003 log files
In my exchange 2003 folder \MDBDATA i have 25GB of log files (0000???.log), can I assume that these are transaction log files and can they be deleted under certain circumstances.
If memory serves me right, they can be deleted after a successful shutdown and reboot.
Thanks.

They can be deleted after a full information store backup, and should get deleted automatically once a successful backup has been completed
Shutdown & Reboot wont always delete them, as it might not commit the transactions to the database, best doing a full store backup 1st

Just to add - the backup has to be complete for the IS to delete the log files. We run a morning checklist that includes the IS backup and the storage used by the log files

are you running a full backup everynight
i wouldn't manually delete logs, get your backups working
if you are doing a full backup every night you may wish to put circular logging on, this way you won't get these big logs

I personally would never use circular logging...
Did you buy the BENT Exchange agent? i.e you are backing up the info store and not drive letters?
You must do a "FULL" backup of the IS for it to commit the logs. I think there is an option in BENT when once backed up, you can select if logs are committed? Just a "mailbox" backup doesn't count, has to be IS.
Do not manually delete the logs, if you did, mailstores may not mount as it is missing some log files.

Yep, purchased the exchange agent.
I've read that if you use circular logging, only the last full backup of the IS is valid and not incremental.
My current Backup Exec job is :-
Exchange:
FULL - Database and Logs (Flush committed Logs)
Mailboxes:
FULL - Backup Messages - Rest Archive Bit.
