guy trying to cancel his AOL account, the person in question was sacked shortly after

i cancelled my mams AOL account on her behalf. To be fair they were not as bad as i thought they would be. They tired to make me stay and offered the 2 meg line etc but when I said no not interested thanks they were like ok no problem, whole process only took 5 minutes

the above link though......things went down a little differently

OMFG - how annoying!!

Just confirms my personal suspicions about AOL

Only had them on a cheap n nasty dial up many many years ago. Wasn't overly impressed back then either

Certainly wouldn't use em now.

That said, I'm sure that there are many happy AOL customers out there too.

HOw's that for sitting on the fence!

UK AOL users goes to India call center. you reckon it's easier?

Hello

I used AOL when I moved house a couple of years ago and was waiting for my Broadband to be hooked up. Finally a use for one of those "Free months trial!" AOL CD's. Anyway, I didn't have any problem. The connection was actually quite fast (for dial up), no cut off period and when I wanted to cancel it was fine.

Any ISP that uses proprietary connection methods and doesn't support NAT is to be avoided. I rang them once about connecting NT4 server to their network and I was told it couldn't be done. Funny every other ISP can cope AOL are fine if you don't know how to use a keyboard, but once you figure that out they're best avoided.
