Activex component can't create object
I'm a bit stuck with a problem on my laptop. Two of the programs I use are giving me an error message when they start. The error message is:
run-time error "429"
Activex component can't create object
There seems to be quite a lot of hits on google for this problem but it hasn't helped me sort it out yet.
Can anyone give me some assistance or point me in the right direction. My laptop runs Windows XP if this helps.

You need to be more specific Andrew, what are you running when this happens? What are doing exactly to get this message? Sounds like an IE permissions problem but cant be certain.

Hi Gary.
The one program is for mortgage sourcing and is called Trigold. Their IT helpdesk had me download and run a file called DAO35.EXE. This cured the Trigold problem completely.
The other software is a client management/compliance package from Quay Software. I'm still getting the same error message when this runs. Just waiting for their helpdesk people to get back to me. The error occurs when either the Envoy or Updater modules run. Can't be more specific as I don't know what each part of the software does.
I wish software problems were as easy to sort out as building a PC.

Ah ok DAO thats data access objects for talking to old access db's (been replaced for many many years by ADO). Yes the vendor should be able to help, dont know those packages so cant really help you anymore.
