I'd only dabbled with hl 1 before, but bought hl2 and was well pleased. One of the few games I've actually made time for to play 
Like you say though James, it all ends very suddenly. Liked the bfg at the end where you could throw the guards around, very lifelike physics
Far Cry has just gone in my pc, £9.99 from pc world
Good game so far, and quite tough even on medium setting.

I think it just seems to end quickly - the game goes on for AGES
I see it as a sign that the game was good. Just finishing it for a 2nd time now

I think the HL games are like great films. They always seem to be over quickly but in fact it's just that you're so engrossed in it, it just seems that way! (although I do think the last level in HL2 was pretty short in terms of actual gameplay - lots of travelling round on those conveyor belts).

my gfx card packed up at the most inconvenient time with all these great games out, now using an old 32mb card that doesnt cut it.

I see theres yet another PC game to movie...
Far Cry - 2008
Half Life is out but nothing to do with the game. Will expect them to release it though
