XBox ModChip
Just bought an Xbox for my nephew, i would like to add a modchip to it for obvious reasons.
The criteria which the modchip should meet is :
a) Solderless & easy to install
b) Switch-offable - so he can use xbox live with no hassle
c) Cheap
Can anyone recommend a modchip that fits the above ?
Oh and any decent tutorials on backing up games would be good
Thanks guys

Solderless - potentially unreliable IMO. Much better to solder or 'softmod'.
I have 2 modded xbox's - one I took to bits completely, soldered the Xecuter 3 in (£30 approx) and swapped the hard disk for a 120Gb. It was fiddly but the problems came finding the right bios to flash and installing a desktop - this took about 90% of the time. Took a whole day in the end.
The other xbox I gave to a mate to 'softmod' (free). It's so much easier - no need to open it up. You need Mech Assault and the special savegame file that boots up Linux so you can replace the dashboard.
The chipped xbox can boot from the standard rom so you can go on xbox live.
Not sure about the softmodded one but I'm sure you can boot to the MS dashboard.
With DVD2XBOX, you just copy the games onto the hard disk and play them from there. They load much faster too.

Forgot to mention:
The new xbox's are a pain to chip as the motherboards don't have the required connections.
That's why I bought an old xbox (1.1 I think) on ebay to chip.
My other xbox that was softmodded is a 1.6 crystal.

did my 1.6 with xecuter ce. had to take the xbox completely apart and lift the MB out as there is a component soldered on the backside of the MB. having read the reviews i bought the xecuter as it seems to be the best one out there. does your mate really need xbox live, could he not use xlink kai instead?

Xecuter 2.6 in mine, brilliant, easy to install with the solderless adapter.
If your interested in cheap stock, check this guy out, use him quite often, stuff delivered next day and does PAYPAL.
