"While Sony has successfully fended off two PlayStation 2 modchip developers in recent weeks, another has seemingly surfaced. Dubbed 'Origa,' the chip allows players to directly boot original PSone and PlayStation 2 software from any region. Moreover, the chip allows users to play copied PlayStation 2 software through a simple swap technique. Reportedly manufactured by an Italian company, several variants of the chip have already begun filtering into the European and North American markets. It remains to be seen whether Sony is actively pursuing the Origa and its developers, but we'll keep you posted."

I'd heard about that chip sometime ago Daz but I also thought that they'd stopped developing it cos of Sony putting pressure on ChannelTech and Playstationmods. The company from what I understand (What do I know uh? ) is run by two brothers...
You can find their website here and here's their statement about Sonys actions!

Gives you a bit of background anyway!
