Finding out about....
..... who is an IP Address?
Have received an interesting email from what appears to be from Barclays Bank telling me that somebody unsuccessfully tried to access my online banking.
Now I would normally think that this was just another jumk piece if crap email however what concerns me is that it has my home address in it!?!?!?!
Can anybody tell me how to find out who is.....
81.190.253.29
or alternatively tell me who it is?
Cheers
Andy

Follow up to this one.... have just been chatting to a mate and he says that some of these dodgy emails can input a new entry into your registry (if you click on the link contained within the email) so that even if you type in the correct actual Internet Banking address it then somehow redirects you to the phishing site and therefore they can still get your details!!!
Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not?
Cheers

This is why Barclays suggest you don't open ANY emails pertaining (sp?) to be from them, they do not send out emails so anything like this would appear to be dodgy IMHO..!
Have you not had the page that pops up from time to time when logging on warning you of such emails..? I had one this morning, actually read it for once..!

Just a thought... do you have your own domain name registered?
If you do, it would be worth checking that nominet (assuming a .uk domain) aren't showing your address on a whois lookup for the domain name. A domain registered to a private individual can have the address details withheld on request.
HTH
John.
