Default DVD playback on PC..?

Hi all,

Bit of advice required please..!!

I recently installed a Pioneer 110 DVD/RW in my home pc. All is well, ie it plays music cd's ok etc, but won't play DVD's.

I've got WMP9 and it tells me when trying to play thrugh that to adjust my colour and resolution settings, which I did, but it still won't play

I've got Nero OEM suite, which has showtime 2, but it's a version that won't play DVD video

I downloaded AVS DVD player, it plays DVD's, but no decent vision. The screen is just green and you can't actually watch the film, but the sound is ok.

What can I do to get my DVD's to play on my PC.

Cheers in advance,
Confused Nige.

For Windows Media Player you need something called an Mpeg2 CODEC to play DVDs. I think only WM10 can play DVDs.

Or try getting hold of a copy of either:

PowerDvD or WinDvD PC DVD software players.

Just checked and my WMP is version 10..?!!

I get this message when trying to play DVD's:

"Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. Open Display in Control Panel, and then lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. To view the DVD Troubleshooter, click More Information."

I've lowered the resolution and colour settings but still with no joy. Besides, I can't live with the lower resolution setting as the rest of my desktop looks awful..!!

Any other thoughts..?

Cheers,
Nige.

Ummm... What Graphics card are you using? Older cards would struggle to play back DVD video. Either that or you do not have the Graphics Card driver installed correctly. And your using the Windows Default safe driver.
