CompTIA A+/Network+
Hi Guys,
I have been looking into doing these courses. just wondered if anyone has done them. Good price to pay and your views.
I am not 100% new to IT, but have no Office expirence. Looking at the course spec's this seems like a very good start to get into IT.
Any advice would be Great.
Cheers

I did both for my resettlement when I left the Army.
It was around £1500 for all materials and 1 week classroom tuition IIRC, but as it was paid for by a grant, I didn't exactly look for the cheapest deal.
It depends on what you want to do career-wise, but I would only really recommend either of them for getting on the first rung of the IT ladder. There are so many people around these days with MS quals, which obviously are harder to achieve, that CompTIA stuff is overlooked.
Having said that, I think that they did compliment my CV well - although I was able to 'spin' my Army experience toward the IT side of things (I was in Telecoms)
What do you do at the moment?

I am currently work in logistics. mainly customs. so it's a total change in sector.
Might do the A+ myself... through books. Then do the MCSA.
Just seeing what all my options are.
Cheers
