Red face I need help QUICK!

my main desktop pc has just started up and before it gets to the xp screen witht the loading sign it just says something like

file missing or corrupt
<windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Please reinstall a copy of the above file

What do i do? i desperately need this pc.

well that was quick, thanks guys im gonna have a go at this now, but it wasnt booting from the disk early lets pray, i dare say ill be back shortly

ok jus as i assumed, it said press any key to boot from the cd so i did so...
the disk drive then sounded like it was loading the disk but then stopped and just repeated the error

thanks really helpful! anyway iv got the screen sayin windows xp professional setup and it says the following lists shows the partitions and unpartitioned space on this computer

C: partition1 [NTFS} 19085 MB
Unpartitioned space 8 MB


i pressed r numerous times but nothing happened

I usually put the windows disk back in and re-install by now

Sorry - one of the virtues of Windows (not an issue with OSX)

Take the hard drive out, put it in a working windows XP machine and copy the file from there
