Default Anyone familiar with SBS2003 ?

Trying to prevent a user from being able to delete messages from their mailbox. Anyone know how? Have tried changing mailbox privs so SELF has only read access, but suspect I am barking up the wrong tree.

TIA,
Andy

active directory users & computers
select user properties in question
go to exchange advanced tab
click on mailbox right and set permissions.

i think the rights need to be explicit.

and group membership will override this...

i'll ask around for more info, windows permission suck and always mess with my head!!!

From what I can remember off hand, I'm pretty sure due to the lack of granularity of mailbox permissions, once someone has Full access to a mailbox then that's as configurable as it gets (without fancy Outlook scripting).

What about directing the mail into Public Folders? Then you could stop 'em from deleting it.

I suspected this wasn't as straightforward as the MD wanted LOL.

Our content checking stuff can log and forward etc, so I'm making all incoming and outgoing mail from that station go to the supervisor's mailbox, in a seperate folder. This then accounts for the mails they send, which is the main deleting problem.

Thanks

For several customers, I use GFI Mail Essentials to create a searchable archive of all, or selected mailboxes.
