ADSL - what line speed do you have and ...
what line stats do you have (downstream SNR margin and line noise) and how far do you live from your exchange?
BT have refused to put me back to 2mb (after fixing a fault that wasn't speed related) saying that SNR margin of 17db and line noise of 42db is not good enough even though I live less than 1.5 miles from the exchange. According to BT if they gave me 2mb my connection would be too unstable
So wondered what other people have and what their line stats are for their connection etc so I can see if BT are being reasonable or not.
Also now BT Wholesale have put my address in their database as max of 1mb I am considering telling them to get stuffed and cancel my telephone line with them and take cable with Telewest and get upto 10mb connection with allegedly no restrictions.

US Margin 31
DS Margin 22
Modulation MMODE
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 35
US Line Attenuation 42
Does this help ?
God knows hows far but 2mb and as stable as you like. If you need to switch suppliers I can give you our corporate contact at firefly who can work wonders with dodgy lines.

Cheers yep thats what I was after Your stats are a lot better than mine, i just can't believe my line can't support 2mb when I live as close as I do to the exchange. If there are many others with results like your or better then i've obviously got a **** line - my ds line attenuation used to be 56db so thought 42 was very good!

Local Tx Power: 11.34 dB
Remote Tx Power: 14.65 dB
Local Line Atten.: 60.0 dB
Remote Line Atten.: 28.5 dB
Local SNR Margin: 21.5 dB
Remote SNR Margin: 24.0 dB
Have seen the local line attenuation dip to 57 occasionally.
Only get 512Kbits/sec here... I think we're pushing the distance from the exchange here
John.

My line is provisioned at 2Mbps, though work pays for a 1Mbps and I can flex up to 2Mbps as required:
Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 288 / 2.272
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/GB]: 3,68 / 3,92
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11,5 / 19,5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 28,0 / 45,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 27,0 / 22,0

Can't remember how far exactly we are from our exchange, but it's too far for 2MB I have a 2MB account though and get 1 and a bit
Details:
Downstream
Connection Speed : 1152 kbps
Line Attenuation : 51 db
Noise Margin : 16 db
Upstream
Connection Speed : 288 kbps
Line Attenuation : 15.5 db
Noise Margin : 25 db

Cheers for the replies, looks like my figures are worse than I thought! I must have a really crap route to the exchange on old wiring. They changed my line (totally different set of cables - not a different pair in the same set of cables)all the way from the exchange to the junction box and from the junction box to my house they changed to another out of the three that I have to my house. Plus they changed the card at the exchange and all that changed my line noise from 56db down to 42db and gave me a higher margin. Looks it still wasn't enough though At least it fixed the constant line drops every few hours.
Very tempted with Telewest's 10mb for £35 though
