Default NT4

Has anyone bought a new server off the shelf recently and installed Windows NT4 on it? I'm getting mixed opinions about drivers being available and such like.

I have a very old Fujitsu box running our ERP system and it's getting a bit creaky to say the least. Unfortunately I can't migrate to W2K or 2K3 Server as it's NT4 only.

HP (Compaq) stopped new builds of their SupportPack for NT4 in 2004.

Bottom of this page gives a list of supported servers.

For the ML370 it covers the G3 model (current is G4) and I can still see some G3 models on a distributors website.

You can still get it onto some boxes.. the HP G4'S Dont like it.. the G3's still worked.

You will really struggle with a proper server, where as some of the ****ty ones AKA dells, will probably be ok!

Alternatively, you could use something such as Microsoft Virtual Server or VMware on a 2003 box.

So I take it you are a retailer then Richard? If you are I'm happy to put some business your way if the price is right

I've found a few out there and am getting quotes at the moment.

Essentially after a tower ML370 G3 hot plug with 3 x 36GB Ultra160s 1GB RAM and ideally 2 processors, although I think moving from a pair of 266Mhz pentiums to anything will show me a huge improvement

PM me if you have anything to suit.

dont forget..

Smart Array 641 (if they dont come with one)
Additional Network card (I believe the ML370 doesnt have a 'dual port' style card built in..
ILO Advanced Pack
Redundant Fan Kit
Redundant PSU.

Last 3 should be a must have on HP!! I wish they werent optional.
