Nero - setting CD writing speed
Hello
I am using Nero v7.0.0.0 on a Windows XP SP2 machine.
I am trying to write some audio CDs that are created from MP3s. I want to record them at 2x speed, but it only gives me the option to record at a minimum of 8x speed. If I burn a playlist in Media Player or iTunes then it will let me burn down to 1x speed, so i know the burner will do it. I cant find any settings in Nero to change so I can go lower than 8x speed. Anyone know anything I can try (any config files that can be edited ???) ?

The faster i write them, the more the tracks skip when they are played. 2x is the only speed that i have found that always burns audio tracks that dont skip.

how old is the player you are playing them in. May be the laser isn't that strong for cd-r disks and burning slower helps it read them. MP3's wont sound brilliant whatever speed you burn them. And ignore people who say 192K/bit is cd quality......IT ISNT!!!! cd'd run at 1400Kbit/s ish. Thing is PC writers these days really dont seem the need for these slow speeds anymore

As an after thought. Have you tried finding an updated firmware for your burners? Some firmware upgrades allow burners to use different brands of media properly. Try here:
